Dr. Roberts is the medical director of the Sutter Heart & Vascular Institute. He takes pride in developing cardiology at Sutter into an integrated Cardiovascular Service. His philosophy for patient care is: “Patients are best served by an integrated approach to the entire cardiovascular tree – from head to toe. Preventing strokes, heart attacks and limb loss all go hand in hand.”
His professional interests include: interventional cardiology, peripheral vascular disease, stroke and extracranial cerebral vascular disease, congenital heart disease, and cardiac research.
He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and conversant in French.
Dr. Roberts has a passion for developing cardiovascular research and offering cutting-edge technologies and procedures to his patients. He has been a pioneer for heart procedures in the Sacramento region. Some of his firsts include: first percutaneous “artificial heart assist” device, drug eluting stents, radiation treatment for scarred stents, “protected” stenting of old bypass grafts, first FDA-approved carotid stent protocols for stroke prevention, and the first use of orbital atherectomy to successfully treat calcified blockages in the leg for limb salvage.
